Got me stumped!

Hey guys, having a little prob with the vl thats doin my head in! car's been driving beautifully on 18psi, and normally lights up all gears. (manualised auto)

However all of a sudden on sunday, i gave it a hit in first expecting bushfires and car didnt really go anywhere. Turbo spool shifted up around 1000rpm in the rev range (more lag) and it only hit around 10psi instead of 18. 2nd and 3rd gear are still perfect. First thing i thought was slipping converter but it doesnt make sense that it only happens in first. as slipping converter usually affects all gears.

i checked the gearbox linkage to make sure 1st was properly engaging and not caught between 1st n 2nd and its perfect. checked all cooler piping etc and everythings fine. Any ideas or anyone had this happen before coz im absolutely stumped??

if youve said that the problem is only in 1st gear

i doubt it would be anything mechanical ie motor wise
if it was mechanical, id say it would effect all gears
its probly box
but im guessing maybe even computer?

nah man don't think its anything ignition related, it wouldnt be restricted just to one gear. the box still shifts perfect between gears so i stronly doubt the box is shagged aswell. thats why im puzzled

You could still have a boost leak somewhere. Slow boost, but enough boost later in the gears.

Check your lines, I think you will find that one of them will be off somewhere.

can you give some more info on your setup? Aftermarket ecu? Also any information on how it felt/sounded when you flattened your foot?

Might have to tighten your Automatic transmission band.

For the band to be slipping enough to cause boost drop, your fluid would stink like ****.

And it would definately flare on gear change.

what Boost control method are you using.

running a psr 50mm gate n turbosmart boost tap. but the only reason boost is dropping is coz my turbo normally hits full boost by 4500-5000rpm anyway, so because its slipping with less load on the motor, boost will take more revs to build and so it only gets to around 10psi before its time to change into 2nd. well thats wat i reckon anyway. when i get time this weekend i'll suss it out
